Democrats proposed changing the immigration registry to help legalize millions of undocumented immigrants who would then benefit from humanitarian temporary residency permits. However, Representative Elizabeth's response indicated that she would not allow changes to the entry dates used to determine eligibility. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
This proposal from the Democrats is not the only one they have used; initially, they would have sought to use their spending bill to provide around 8 million Green Cards for: Dreamers, people with Temporary Protected Status (TPS), agricultural workers, and essential employees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Dick Durbin (D-Illinois), said he was \u201cdisappointed\u201d by the ruling and that it left them with \u201climited\u201d options.
